Install
stele is one file, with nothing else to set up. Pick whichever way suits you.
With Go
You need Go 1.27 or later.
go install github.com/lictor-ai/stele/cmd/stele@latest
With Homebrew or Scoop
These work from the first stable release on.
On macOS or Linux:
brew install lictor-ai/tap/stele
On Windows:
scoop bucket add lictor-ai https://github.com/lictor-ai/scoop-bucket
scoop install stele
By hand
Download the archive for your system from the releases page, and put stele somewhere on your PATH. checksums.txt lists the SHA-256 of each archive. The binaries are not signed.
Check that Claude Code can find it
Claude Code runs the plain command stele, so it has to be on the PATH that Claude Code sees.
If you installed with Go, that folder is $(go env GOPATH)/bin.
If Claude Code can’t find stele, writes simply go through with no rules applied. So it’s worth checking this before you move on.
